  • Meeting Manager

    Hi Guys,

We forgot to select a person to manage the meeting for next week. Madhan, Tim and Luke to discuss.

  • Next Meeting (21/02/2007)

As I am arranging the next meeting, I'd like for the group to meet on the Wednesday, after lecture at 1.30. We can meet in the library. I'll see if I can book a room and I'll confirm the date and time.

    Agenda for the meeting including:

    -Current progress of tasks
    -Confirmation of system objectives
    - Requirements

  • 2012 Olympic Design Workshop 2 Project Meeting Notes 14 February 2007

Firstly a discussion on the system background and objectives including a review of Nicky & Rich's functional and non-functional requirements gave the following system objectives. These will be expanded as the progression of the project continues.

    System objectives:
    - Register new users
    - Check availability of events and seats
    - Purchase ticket (PC or mobile phone)

The use of the unified process during the project was decided, as all members will have a reasonable understanding due to covering it in the first semester in other units. Alternatively we can resort to David's JFDI technique if time becomes pressing?

Work to be covered by each group member before the next meeting (time yet to be discussed).
    - Nicky will write an introduction for the project including system objectives and what the systems should do.
    - Rich will complete the user requirements and do the system use cases.
    - Madhan to prototype various HTML designs for the system i.e. initial front end to ticket selection and purchasing.
    - Tim to research J2ME designs and processes for ticket selection and purchasing. Further research could include incorporating a map or event locator.
    - Luke will also research J2ME as Tim and to start a Gantt chart for a rough project time line.

  • Initial 2012 Olympic ticket concept

The initial idea for this project is based on the concept of a user either on a pc or mobile phone being able to select an event even if it is happening and be able to search for any available event tickets during the 2012 Olympic games.
Users should be able to see the tickets for a specific or all events and the seating available i.e. the position of the seats. Then to be able to purchase their desired tickets.
Upon the payment a printable ticket for a pc user, mobile phone users would get a barcode or ticket reference number to enter the event. These should be dispatched with directions including possible map facillites.
This would enable users anywhere even within the Olympic site to search the available seats at any event and receive their entry medium for access.

  • Tasks for week 2 (overview)

    Project Background

    • Build online ticket system for Olympic games
    • System to be used on mobile phones and PC’s
    • System will allow the user to download maps – which will enable the user to navigate to the Olympic village
    • System will allow the user to download maps – which will enable the user to navigate around the Olympic village (between events, maybe only needs to be available for mobile phone?)
    • If user purchases ticket with a mobile phone – barcode will be sent via txt message – this will act as a ticket
    • Option of viewing the stadium seats (still to discuss)

    Basic Project Walkthrough

    1. User buys ticket (mobile/pc)
    2. Views map of how to get to Olympic village
    3. Views map of how to get around Olympic village

Tasks for week 2 (14/02/07 deadline)

    • Analyse user requirements
    • Think of system objectives
    • Research into Java servlets
    • Research into J2ME

    Team meeting 14/07/02 (13h30 – 15h00) PR-2A (library)

    - Discuss the possibility of constructing a report which includes the scope and breakdown of the project such as project ideas, to requirements. I feel that is approach will not only help which the structure and allocation of work, but to support the 'presentation' of the final concept.
    - The allocation of work
    - The decision of which Software Project Cycle to use
    - J2ME. Are we assuming that the use downloads an application, or will the user be required to connect to a website using WAP?
    - The blog system went down yesterday, it might be wise to have a backup of the blog.
